With spices growing on the back porch, and fresh local berries at the supermarket, it's a great time of year for green smoothies! I've been making the following smoothie (without the optional ingredients) almost every day - it's so refreshing, with just enough zing from the fresh basil and lime. Enjoy!
Basil Berry Blast
1C water
1/2 lime, juiced
1C fresh blueberries or strawberries (rinsed, and chop off tops if strawberries)
4 large leaves basil
4 leaves mint
1/2" ginger root, peeled (optional)
1/2C pineapple (optional)
4 leaves kale or other bitter green (escarole, chicory, baby bok choy, etc)
spinach to top of blender (at least 2 loose Cups)
